What Is The Difference Between A Guru And Sadguru?

Q.1: What is the difference between a guru and sadguru?

A.1: A guru is one who destroys our sins. A sadguru is one who leads us to God by radically changing our wrong way of life and inspiring us to follow the religious and spiritual path.

Q.2: Is guru and Shree Hari the same?

A.2: They are considered identical in Tantra Shastra, like Vishvasara Tantra. Gurus can be many, Hari is one. Guru may go wrong, Hari is always right. Hari can be Guru but Guru can never be Hari. Guru is dependent the Sevak (humble servant), while Hari is independent and Swami (Sovereign, Supreme).

Q.3:Shreeji Maharaj has commanded in Shikshapatri not to tell the truth which betrays one’s self or others’. How can God ask us to tell a lie?

A.3:If you have to choose between Truth and Non-violence, you must choose the latter.

If your life can be saved by telling a lie, you must tell a lie and save your life because if you remain alive, then only you can do a lot of things to please God.

Suppose a man hides in your house to save his life. The hooligans who chase him, come to you and ask if you have seen a man running away. Will you tell the truth and allow the man to be murdered by the hooligans? You incur no sin if you tell a lie in such a case .

Q.4: Why should we bow down before an idol, a saint or an elderly person?

A.4: Bowing down is associated with humility, lack of pride and ego. We bow down before those who command and do not demand our respect for them. Unless pride and ego are kept at a reasonable level, you cannot get the best out of such a respectable person. Success in life is also associated with meekness of the spirit. Those who are meek in heart, will be blessed and they will see Akshardham, the Kingdom of God Supreme.
